Dr. Terry Myckytn is skilled in a variety of body contouring techniques: Power Assisted Liposuction, Tumescent Liposuction, Smart Lipo™ , and Vaser Liposection. SmartLipo™ laser-assisted liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a technique known as "laser lipolysis" to destroy fat cells via laser energy. Laser-assisted liposuction is particularly useful in the treatment of small pockets of fat associated with modest amounts of loose skin, common in areas such as the neck. The SmartLipo™ liposuction is used for laser-assisted liposuction. Using a very small cannula (a tube that houses a special laser), Dr. Myckatyn liquefies targeted fat cells. Compared to traditional tumescent liposuction, laser-assisted liposuction may reduce bleeding from blood vessels in the fat. The laser may also stimulate the production of collagen during the healing process and can help to increase the firmness and overall appearance of the skin. Frequently, patients treated with SmartLipo™ experience less bruising and faster recovery compared with standard tumescent liposuction.

The VASER LipoSelection® system uses ultrasonic energy to liquefy fat cells in the targeted area. The VASER® cannula emits ultrasonic energy that allows the surgeon to selectively "liquefy" fatty tissue, resulting in less thermal damage and swelling than alternative liposuction procedures. Dr. Myckatyn often used this technique for treatment of dense areas of the body, and it is ideal for male breast reduction (for patients with gynecomastia) and liposuction of the chest and back.
